Honda uses a pressure welding method on this section of their swingarm. This method leaves a lot of excess, uneven slag edges. To accommodate this, the Fat Boy has a cutaway that clears this area… most of the time. Because this edge can be so uneven, after installing the shock, but before riding on it, check to see if any of the rough edges contact the shock body. If you find any high points, remove the shock, and file them down until you have a smoother edge. Then re-install your shock, and ride the heck out of your bike!
